Five Yoga poses to relieve headache

Though, headache is not the only pain that often occurs to us. Apart from pain, headache causes irritation and anxiety. And the brain takes the pain upon itself. So in this article some easy to do yoga poses that will help you sooth the headache issues to great extent.

CAUSES OF HEADACHE:

Most of the time headache happens due to improper sleep, stress, or spending time in a noisy place. Most of the headaches happen in nerves, blood vessels, and muscles. It covers a person’s head and neck. A researcher found, whenever blood flow got increases, a layer forms inside veins. The blood vessel starts swelling. Nerves immediately send a rush of pain message to the brain and bring a headache.

Some causes of headaches are as follows:

  • Infections (such as ear, viruses like Flu, cold, etc.)
  • Stress
  • Dehydration
  • Watching TV/COMPUTER excessively
  • Loud music
  • Alcohol
  • Caffeine( people often drink a lot of caffeinated drink)
  • Skipping meals
  • Lack of sleep/ sudden changes in sleeping pattern
  • Vision problems

Research conducted on headache also found that, for some teens, hormonal changes can be a cause of headaches. The majority of girls get headaches during their periods.
Yoga can help us to prevent the headache problem completely. Yoga helps us to stretch the muscles that improve blood circulation. Most importantly it releases stress and maintains body temperature.

These are a few yoga asanas, which will help you to get relief or rid of headaches:

Viparita karani pose (yoga)

VIPARITA KARANI

HOW TO PERFORM:

  • Begin the pose by setting up space near the wall.
  • First, lie down, keep your hips near to the wall.
  • Lower your back to the floor, lie down gently.
  • Move your hips closer to the wall, bring your leg up the wall and
  • ensure that your legs are vertically pointed, both the legs above the hips.
  • You may use your hand to maintain your balance.
  • Adjust your weight. You can use a pillow under your head.
  • Now try to relax every part of your body.
  • Remain in the same posture/position.
  • Stay in this posture for 20 minutes.

adho mukha svanasana pose (yoga)

ADHO MUKHA SVANASANA:

HOW TO PERFORM THIS YOGA POSE:

STEP 1:
Begin the pose by setting up space.
Come onto the floor on your hand and knees. Set your knees directly below your hips.
Then hand slightly forward of shoulders. Spread your palms. Turn your toes inwards.

STEP 2:
Exhale and lift your knee away from the floor. Knees slightly bent and the heels lifted away from the floor.
Lengthen your tailbone away from the back of your pelvis. Press it lightly towards the pubis.
Against the resistance lift the sitting bones toward the ceiling
Your inner ankles draw the inner legs up into the groins.

STEP 3:
Now exhale. Push your top thighs back and stretch your heels down towards the floor.
Straighten your knees but do not lock them. Roll the upper thighs inward slightly.
Narrow the front pelvis.

STEP 4:
Press the bases of the index finger into the floor.
From these two points lift your inner your arms from the wrists to the top of shoulders.
Firm your shoulders blades against your back, then widen them. Draw them towards the tailbone.

STEP 5
Stay in this pose for 1 to 2 minutes.

shishusana pose (yoga)

SHISHUASANA:

HOW TO PERFORM THIS YOGA POSE:

  • Sit down on your heels.
  • Keep your hips on the heels, bent forward, and keep your hand shoulder-width apart.
  • Make sure your forehead should touch the floor.
  • Then gently press your chest on thighs.
  • Stay in this position for 2-3 minutes.

SHAVASANA:

HOW TO PERFORM THIS YOGA POSE:

  • Lie flat comfortably on your back.
  • Try to relax your shoulder and neck muscles.
  • Rest your arms on each side of your body.
  • Have a wide gap between your legs.
  • The hand should face upward. The eye should be closed.
  • Try to make synchronization between your body and breathing.
  • Perform this yoga poses for at least 5-10 minutes.
